Last night, Lynwen Brennan returned to her hometown of Wales to talk all about her time working in the film industry. The team at Creative Risk were lucky enough to attend the evening which was held at Cardiff Museum, and found Brennan’s story to be insightful and very inspiring. Brennan is now the General Manager of Lucasfilm and President of Industrial Light and Magic, an amazing achievement for someone who fell into the industry accidentally.
Here are a few of her best lines from the evening:
“When you come from Wales you are surrounded by storytellers all the time. It is in our blood.”
“I think the thing that drives me and where stories overlap is the idea of teamwork and people coming together to act in a selfless way to overcome and to make something better.”
“There is amazing work going on in Wales and it is growing and growing. There is a lot of opportunity and wonderful talent but we need more of it. Keep trying, keep applying, don’t get discouraged when it doesn’t work out the first time.”
“I’m a huge believer that the more diverse your employee base are the more likely you are to tell stories to the world that is relevant of our time. We want to be relevant storytellers and in order to do that we need diversity in our ranks.”
Lynwenn Brennan, General Manager for Lucasfilm and President of ILM.
The evening was organised by BAFTA Cymru in collaboration with Wales Screen and Into Film. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
